Restaurant Spotlight: The Chocolate

We had a great visit to The Chocolate today. This amazing dessert shop is located in Orem at 212 S. State Street. The ambiance of this dessert cafe is spectacular; it's like relaxing at home eating your favorite treat. Every dining room at The Chocolate has a different feeling to it. It's the perfect place for a romantic date night or a fun night out with friends. You can even come in for a hot chocolate and read a book by yourself. The Chocolate isn't just a place to get a fantastic dessert, its a great place to hang out and enjoy yourself. Everything is baked on site from scratch with the best ingredients. We tried "The Husband" and the "Salted Caramel Brownies". The Husband is a yellow cake layered with milk chocolate ganache, covered with more ganache. It was so good! The cake was moist and the ganache was perfect. The Salted Caramel Brownie is the perfect mix of sweet and salty. The brownie is so thick and rich it is almost like eating fudge with frosting. We paired these two desserts with hot chocolate. We tried a mint and a hazelnut. Both options were tasty and came in huge mugs.

The owner, Angie, grew up baking with her family, when she decided to do it professionally she went to New York City to train in baking. She said some of her recipes are old family ones and some came from her east coast training (she said this makes the cannolis delicious!). She opened the restaurant in December of 2009 and opened another in West Jordan in 2010.

Must Try: The Cherub (Milk Chocolate Cake)
               The Husband
The Cazookie (a warm cookie with ice cream on it)
