Utah Valley's Top Hot Chocolate Spots

Tis the season for fires, blankets, sledding, and hot chocolate! Hot chocolate warms the soul. There's nothing like curling up on the couch to a good movie and sipping some rich and delicious hot chocolate. I've had my fair share of hot chocolate and here is my (personal) list of the best places to get hot chocolate here in the Valley.

1. Hot Lava at Sodalicious, Provo

In case you missed our post on Sodalicious earlier, you have to stop by and get a Hot Lava. This rich, thick, creamy drink won't disappoint. My taste buds were in instant heaven when this delicious drink hit my mouth. And if that isn't enough, get one of their million drink combos! You can't go wrong with a Your Mom Extra Dirty ;)

2. The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe, Provo

The Cocoa Bean has over 10 amazing flavors to choose. You really can't go wrong with any of them. I've been there enough to list off a few of my personal favorites: white raspberry, hazelnut, vanilla, and pumpkin pie.

3. The Chocolate, Orem

If you haven't been here get yourself there stat! This place is too adorable for words. The cozy house-feel makes everything taste even better. Their gourmet hot chocolate is to die for! Choose from regular, mint, hazelnut, and spice.

4. 7-11, any location in the US

Call me crazy for adding this one, but 7-11 honestly has some of THE BEST hot chocolate I have ever had. The hot chocolate is rich and creamy and not watered down and you get to mix your own flavors! They have a new almond joy flavor which I highly recommend! You can't beat the price either, it's only $1 for the small size which is usually plenty. And that my friends is a deal!

For all of you Starbucks hot chocolate lovers, (I know you're out there) I didn't forget about you. Here is a copy-cat recipe so that you can get your Starbucks fix right at home!

Ingredients:
1/4 C. water
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 1/2 C. milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
Garnish: whipped cream

Directions:
1. Combine the water, cocoa, and sugar in a 16-oz microwave safe pitcher, like a 2-cup glass measuring cup. Zap the mixture on high for 30 seconds, or until hot. Stir well to create the chocolate syrup.
2. Add the milk to the chocolate syrup and microwave the mixture for 1-1 1/2 minutes, or until hot.
3. Add the vanilla and pour the drink into a 16-oz mug

Makes one 16-oz (grande size) serving

It's the holiday season

Growing up, one of my favorite traditions around Christmas time was driving through different neighborhoods to see all of the lights. There is something magical about seeing houses and buildings all lit up with a glow around them from the snow.

To fulfill this Christmas tradition we headed over to Thanksgiving Point to see their Holiday Lights display. Even though it wasn't houses that were lit up, they have an impressive display set up in Electric Park. The best part...you get to stay in the warmth of your car while looking at more than one million lights! For those who are brave enough to face the cold temperatures, they also offer trolley and carriage rides that take you through the lights. Make sure to reserve a spot before you go though!

The ride takes place at Electric Park and is a little over a mile long. When you pull up make sure to dim your headlights and tune in to FM 100.3 so you can enjoy all your favorite holiday songs while gazing at the twinkling lights and illuminated trees.
The start of the light display
We were in awe with just how many lights there were and how well done all of the displays were. It truly was magical!

They even had displays for each of their attractions. We saw a giant lit up T-Rex! I don't know where else you would find one of those.

After driving through the lights, we parked the car and went to see what all was going on by the Deli and boutique. So glad we did; they had ice sculptors and reindeer! While you are walking around don't forget to pick up some hot chocolate at the local vendor!

Who You Gonna Call....

I suggest pressing play while you read the rest of this post.

Just when I thought I had experienced all the typical Halloween activities, I was proven wrong once again. Saturday night C and I went on a trip that can pretty much only be explained through our pictures.

We traveled out to Camp Floyd to participate in some ghost hunting. Yes, ghost hunting. We arrived around 7PM when the sun was just about down. It was the perfect eerie setting for this small and possibly haunted town. Our adventure started in an old school house where we watched a presentation on ghost hunting and learned different techniques. They showed us what to look for in pictures and showed examples of previous participants photos. After that, they shut off the lights to all the buildings and we were on our own for a ghost hunt. Now the reason I told you to play the song above is because that is what was going through my head the entire night. I was a ghost buster!!

Here are some photos from our ghost hunt. The grey orbs are considered to be the presence of ghosts. You can decide for yourself if they really are...

Our first attempt at catching ghosts. C thought it was my camera that had the blob, but then it disappeared...

Ghost on top of the school???

One group member wanted a moment of silence to try and reach out to the ghosts. Notice how all the orbs gravitate toward her.

I had no idea who was coming out, but I snapped a photo and it was the lady who called out to the ghosts. Coincidence that the giant orb is by her?
We tried talking to them too. Looks like a couple of them showed up

I couldn't resist a cute couple shot :)

Camp Floyd only puts on two ghost hunts each year and unfortunately the other session is already filled up. But check out this site so you have it on hand for next year! You'll want to hurry and book your trip before they fill up!

Folklore, Ghosts, and Biking

Recently I think I came across one of the coolest Halloween activities Provo has to offer. And yes I am fully aware that I say things like that often, but if you only check out one activity this Halloween, this is the one you need to do!

A coworker of mine overheard someone talking about a ghost tour of Provo and told me about it so I did what anyone else would have done, I did some research on Facebook. And sure enough I found the Provo Cycling Ghost Tours. Reading one post about this activity was enough for me to book our adventure.

This is Provo Cycling Ghost Tour's first season being open and they did an amazing job! Derik and Max, the two who started this awesome tour, were inspired by Salt Lake's ghost tour. Realizing that Provo didn't have anything like this, they hit the books. They spent hours in the archives at the library researching the history of Provo and stories and events that have taken place in the area. Hats off to these two because they had some crazy stories to share. All that research paid off.

So here's how the Ghost Tours work - you head over to this link here and sign up for the tour. They take place every Saturday through October at 10PM. You meet at the statue at Memorial Park in Provo (800 East Center Street) with your bike. And don't worry, if you don't have a bike or can't find a friend who will loan you theirs, you can rent one from them for $2. Best part of this tour is the price tag. It's $3 a person or $5 for a couple. AMAZING deal people! They accept cash only at the start of the tour. The online registration is just to reserve your spot.

Once everyone has arrived, they hand out glow sticks to put on your bike and your ghost journey begins! The tour takes about an hour and a half and is approximately a 5 mile ride. Don't worry if you're out of shape like I am, there are no hills you have to bike up; it's a super easy ride. They take you to 6 stops along the way with a story to share at each location. My favorite part...they have a ghost detector that everyone gets a turn holding! It will flash red when a ghost is present.
Red light = ghost. All you need to know.
This was my "hurry and look at me! A ghost is here!" picture
Unfortunately being on a bike didn't allow me to take very good notes, so Max and Derik were kind enough to remind me of some of the stops:

  • Mental Hospital
  • Peay Apartments
  • Provo Cemetery
  • Provo Industrial District
  • Motel Inn
After all the cycling around, they even surprised us with Krispy Kreme donuts and Apple Cider. Needless to say we were all ecstatic.
Food is always a good surprise
Now I would say this activity is appropriate for ages 13 and up. Mostly because you bike for awhile and the stories are creepy. We honestly had the best time last Saturday night. It was so different from anything else that Provo had to offer. Provo Cycling Ghost Tours, I can't wait to do this again next year!

A Pirate's Life for Me

I feel like Colby and I haven't blogged in a while. I'm so sorry. But we have cooked up quite the treat for you this month! All of our dates have a "haunted" theme to them. We discovered some crazy things you can do here in Utah Valley for Halloween that we had never heard of. And when I say crazy, I really mean it; just you wait for all these blog posts this month!

This week we discovered an activity that if you can't find a babysitter for your kids, they can come too. We heard about CLAS Ropes Halloween Adventure Cruise and thought we'd go check it out. I'd also like to throw out that all the couples that were "too busy" to come really missed out! Colby and I had so much fun.

CLAS Ropes is located on Center Street in Provo down by Utah Lake. When you arrive, they have a Halloween movie playing while you wait for your group to be called, along with concessions for purchase.

We had about a 30 minute wait, so we grabbed some popcorn and enjoyed the movie. The captain (tour guide) of your boat announces your group name and you follow him down the path leading to the dock. The dock was covered in lights and spider webs; prepping you for your adventure on the boat.

I didn't know this, but the river you float down is actually the Provo river. CLAS Ropes has decorated the river banks with over 100 hand-carved pumpkins that reflect off of the water. Not to mention all the amazing light work they did along the river. This truly is a unique boat adventure. Your captain shares scary stories and songs and a pirate even comes to attack your ship. Luckily, the pirate is a pretty nice guy, and brings candy with him to share :)
The boat can accommodate up to 40 people so don't be surprised if there is a small wait to get on! You can also reserve an entire boat for your group for just $175 Tues-Thurs, or $195 Fri, Sat, and Mon. The ride costs $8.00 per person to ride. You can find a dollar off coupon on their website here. The ride is open now until October 31. They are open 6:30pm-9pm M-Th and 6:30pm-10pm Fri & Sat.

Best captain ever

The Name's Bond...James Bond

We have all heard it. We all know it. That famous phrase we love to recite when trying to be cool..."the name's Bond, James Bond." With that in mind, I think we went on our most creative date yet.

I received this top secret letter (I got special permission to share with you) about a week before we went out, with the details of our mission.
I'm sorry, how cute and clever is this?! Once I got this, I couldn't wait to go on the date!

We paired up with another couple for this James Bond adventure. Each couple was responsible for creating tasks and clues for the other couple. Each clue had a task associated with it. We capped off our clues at 4 before you had to make your way to the cocktail party. Colby and I created our clues the day before and talked with businesses that would be taking part in our date so they had a heads up.

After decoding the secret phrase, we made our way to our staring point where we exchanged clues and practiced using our highly effective weapons (Nerf guns).

Here are a couple videos from some of our tasks

Throwing a banana at a couple having a DTR

Yes we got quite a few looks and stares, but it was totally worth it! We were having the time of our life. The last video is where we made our final "kill" before heading on to the cocktail party.

One reason this date was so fun was because of all the places we got to go to. We drove all around town trying to hurry and complete these tasks. It was awesome. Every place we went to people knew we were up to something. It was hilarious watching them watch us.

And in case anyone was wondering...we won :)

Two Buck Tuesday

I'm pretty sure at some point in all of our lives we were fascinated by dinosaurs. Truth is, I still am. Maybe it's because Ross from Friends was a Paleontologist and he is one of my favorite characters or maybe it's because dinosaurs really are just that cool. Either way I've wanted to go to a dinosaur museum for months now. And thanks to Thanksgiving Point's, Two Buck Tuesday's, we were able to do just that.

Every Tuesday in the month of August, Thanksgiving Point allows you to get in to all of the attractions for just two bucks! What a deal!

So yes the Museum of Ancient Life is targeted towards children, but it's for adults too! I don't think I've learned about dinosaurs since elementary school so it was great to re-learn all those fun facts. We had so much fun wondering around the museum. There was so much to see and explore. It fulfilled my childhood (ok fine, adult dream) of going to see the dinosaurs. It was the perfect night out for us. And you can't beat the price tag that comes along with it!
My cute boyfriend reading up on his dino facts

I really wish we would have had more time to check out the gardens while we were there. That's another gorgeous place to visit. Not only do the adults appreciate how beautiful the landscape is, but the kids get to run around; win, win.

There's only one day left of Thanksgiving Point's Two Buck Tuesday so grab the family (or just your spouse) and head on over! For a complete list of all deals that take at Thanksgiving Point on their Two Buck Tuesday check out this page.

All Things "Fuh"

We're back! Sorry for lack of posts the last few weeks. We've been on vacation and had crazy busy schedules. But we're back and we have even more awesome date night ideas for all you awesome couples out there.

Friday night was one of the funnest and most entertaining nights I think we've had in a while. We went on a triple date with some of my old roommates and their husbands. The whole night was spent in laughter. I couldn't have asked for better company!

About a month ago we were having a girls night and I was telling my friends about this blog segment and that I needed some more ideas. We started brainstorming and came up with quite the concept...alphabet dates. The idea is to pick a letter and have all the activities start with that letter. We went with the letter F. Now you are probably asking yourself why in the world would you start with that letter. Well, that's a question we can't even answer. Sorry.

To start our night off we had a traditional Vietnamese dish called Pho. It's pronounced "fuh" which is why we decided it worked for our first alphabet date night. We went to Pho Plus in Orem to try this yummy dish. They also have a new location that just opened off of Center Street in Provo. Before you get freaked out by the name, Pho is just a bowl of beef broth with fresh rice noodles, onions, cilantro, and your choice of meat. It also comes with a plate of bean sprouts, lime wedges, jalapenos, and herbs. What's neat about this dish is that everyone gets to make it their own. It comes with the basics then you can add some of their sauces to make it spicier if you wish. It was interesting how different everyone's bowl tasted.
I'm going to be honest, I don't think I would ever crave Pho, but I would keep going back because of the experience you get when you are there. And don't get me wrong, Pho was delicious, I just don't think I would ever crave it like I do ice cream sometimes. Another plus, it's pretty cheap. For a regular bowl it was only about $7. A couple pointers about ordering at Pho Plus....
1. A regular is plenty - the bowls are ginormous there
2. A couple could share the large, but then you couldn't each make it your own - that's your call

Part two of our triple date consisted of something else I've never tried before...frolfing. Yes, that is a term. Frolfing is the term for frisbee golf and who knew there was a brand new course right here in Utah Valley?! We went to the new course at Utah Valley University. It was gorgeous! The course is free to use, you just need to provide your own equipment. The course is located on the west side of the campus, right next to the baseball field (where the Orem Owlz play). The trickiest part of this course is how close to the pond some of the targets were. My friend's husband already had the frolfing equipment we would need, including a "golden retriever" in case some of our discs went into the pond...and of course they did :)

Here are a few highlights of our frolfing experience:

199 ft is a lot harder than you'd think
A successful find with the golden retriever

Getting a few pointers from the husband
Is this not the cutest thing you have ever seen?!

The final part of our date included a treat us girls loved getting when we were in college, Frozen Hot Chocolate. We made our own instead of going to DQ and you can find the recipe we used here. The recipe was easy to make and more importantly it was absolutely delicious!

K&B, T&M...thanks for a super fun night and awesome memories. Can't wait for our next alphabet date!

With the Moon Shining all Around

Hello, my name is Anna. I am the resident Sales Coordinator at the Utah Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau. My husband and I both graduated from Brigham Young University this April and we’re tickled to be living in Provo!
Friends, let’s talk bucket lists, have one? We do, we’ve pretty much had the same Utah Valley bucket list the last three summers but have finally decided to do something about it this summer. Which is why when Monday, July 22 rolled around; we decided to try out the Sundance Resort Full Moon Lift Rides. These are evening scenic lift rides that Sundance Resort offers over every full moon from May through September. Note: you can ride their lifts all year round. In the summer months their lift runs during the day from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. But on full moon evenings in the summer, they re-open their lift from 8:30 – 11:00 p.m.

Not only was the experience relaxing, but also so refreshing! Sometimes we all need to escape to the mountains a little bit. The evening we went the weather was absolutely perfect. Fun fact: as we were standing in line to get on the lift, my husband told me that this was his first time EVER on a ski lift! I enjoyed teaching him how to not get pummeled by the chair (lessons I learned the hard way as a child).

While our lift ride adventure was very low-key and relaxing, a few changes in our evening could have changed the experience. Here are my 4 tips for tackling the Sundance Full Moon Lift Ride:

1.        Think about your feet. When I was getting ready for our Full Moon Lift Ride date, I fought the urge to wear my cute moccasins and instead opted to go for shoes that tie. I could just imagine one of my favorite shoes falling to its demise 30 feet below. I have friends that take their shoes off, which is fine if you’re willing to risk getting mosquito bites on your feet.

2.      Check the weather. Don’t forget to check the weather forecast before you go, and remember, it’s always more chilly in the mountains. Therefore, plan your layers accordingly. When we went we both wore long pants and brought jackets – which we were really grateful for. Some people were there with blankets. The night we went you wouldn’t have needed both a blanket and a jacket, but again, that was the night we went.

3.      Plan your Timing. We left Provo at 9:00 p.m. By the time we drove up to Sundance, parked in the upper lot and took the shuttle down to the resort it was 9:30. After a quick trip to the bathroom (Tip 3B – Go to the bathroom before getting on the lift, it’s 45-50 minutes roundtrip and there’s nowhere to get off at the top to go), and thanks to pre-paid tickets, we went to the front of the line. However, I have other friends who got there about the same time as us and did not have either a season pass or pre-paid tickets and had to wait in line 45 minutes just to buy a ticket. By the time we were almost done, they were just getting on.
Length of line at 9:30 vs. an hour later at 10:30
4.      If possible, pre-purchase. If you want to avoid long lines the night of, you can pre-purchase full moon lift ride tickets at the Sundance ski rental shop, which is open from 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

We seriously had so much fun. Not only is the location breathtaking, but it was also cool to catch a glimpse of different features of the resort (e.g. the amphitheater, the lodges, cabins, ski hills, etc.). Please go, you will be glad you did. The next full moon lift ride is Monday-Wednesday, August 19-21.

Until next time friends, happy adventures!

"Nothing Compares to the Simple Pleasures of Riding a Bike"

Five years ago we had an added blessing in our life when my wife, Stacy, had our fourth child; 12 years after our youngest. Recognizing I wasn't the youngest dad, I started looking for ways to stay in shape. I wanted to be able to keep up with this guy! I used to be an avid runner, but running is not as easy as you get older. Some of my neighbors told me about cycling and encouraged me to get involved.

I started riding with some of the guys in the neighborhood and fell in love with it - cycling is a wonderful activity as you age; there's less wear and tear on the body. I like to joke that the only downside is that I didn't take up golf earlier in my marriage so my wife would be accustom to my being gone for several hours each weekend! Cycling takes time. In order to get a long ride in, you are gone for a few hours. Stacy knew how much I loved cycling and even though she had never really done much riding before, she started riding with some of her girlfriends. It was also a great way for her to exercise and keep up with our 5 year old.

We love the chances we get to cycle together. One of our favorite trails is the Murdock Canal Trail that just opened in Utah County this past spring. The trails runs from 800 North in Orem to the Point of the Mountain in Lehi. We love this trail not only because it connects to other trails, but it is perfect for all level of cyclists. Whether you are an avid cyclist or a recreational rider, the Murdock Canal Trail is perfect. The County commission needs to be commended for their commitment to building a world class trail system throughout the County.

In 2011, some of my neighbors, who are avid cyclists, started discussing organized rides and challenged me to complete a century ride (100 miles) by the end of the summer. They asked if I wanted to join them and to be honest I was a little unsure. They were participating in the Utah Lake Century Epic Ride (ULCER). This was a 100 mile course that went around Utah Lake. I decided to do it and had an amazing experience. Even though riding 100 miles was exhausting, I'm looking forward to the chance to ride it again next week (Saturday, August 3rd). This year the Bonneville Cycling Club, who owns ULCER, had decided to retire the event after 28 years. Not wanted to see this event "ride off into the sunset", the Utah Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce approached Bonneville Cycling Club and offered to assist with the event if they were willing to keep it going. Fortunately they said yes! I am so pleased that they said yes and that my wife and I will both be able to participate in the ULCER this year. The ULCER offers three different course lengths depending on your ability and desire to ride - 30 miles, 60 miles, and 100 miles. My wife is planning to complete the 30 mile course and I'm planning to ride the full century - 100 miles! We have been training and are looking forward to next week's experience.

A Girls Perspective

I consider myself a pretty adventurous person. I enjoy trying new things. Climbing up tall buildings, jumping off 20 foot docks, zip lining; you name it, I'll probably try it. I mean you only live once right? Or at least that's what the rapper Drake says. So when Colby told me we were going kayaking you would think I would be super excited. Correct answer: no.

The usual reaction when he tells me what we're doing consists of me jumping up and down, clapping my hands, and probably making some weird noise. Yes, I react like a kid whose parents just told them they were going to DisneyWorld. This time when he said we were going kayaking my eyes got big and I said, "Oh okay. I'll go." Not the usual reaction. He knew right away I wasn't excited and I made up some lame excuse as to why I wasn't over the top giddy. Truth was I was scared out of my mind! Colby kept talking about rough waters and flipping over in the kayak. And seeing as I've never been kayaking, that did not sound like fun. AT ALL. I thought for sure I would end up in the hospital or end up dead.

The plan was to double with his roommate, who we'll call D, whose family let us borrow their inflatable kayaks. Well when it was time to go D was no where to be found. To my excitement this meant we didn't have to go kayaking! A couple hours later Colby called saying D showed up and they were leaving in an hour. At this point I was laying out by the pool so why would I want to leave (pool + sun = my best friends). When I heard D found a date, who we'll call M, I was a little more comfortable with the idea of going. If another girl could do it, so could I!

Before and after inflating the kayaks
We drove two cars and parked the first one at Vivian Park which is where our adventure would end. Vivian Park is located about 6 miles up the Provo Canyon. We drove the other car to a place just below Deer Creek Dam. When driving up the canyon, you will see a paved road that heads off from the highway on the right just below the dam. Here you can park and easily access the river. This is also where everyone else is getting in the river so you can't miss it.

With no direction on how to paddle from the boys, we headed towards the river. Getting in the river was a little tricky because we were trying to avoid big rocks...a downside to having an inflatable kayak. But once we started going it wasn't bad at all. That's right, it wasn't hard! The ride starts off kind of slow which is perfect to practice your steering.

Riding down the river was such an amazing experience. At some points the river was so calm I wouldn't paddle and just soaked in the gorgeous scenery. The banks hid the sights and sounds of the busy highway. The river alternates between slow peaceful bends and some exciting rapids...nothing too crazy though. I mean I did survive to write this story.

D & M seemed to find themselves in the bushes a lot
Now had a girl told me about kayaking down the Provo river and how much fun she had, there's no way I would have been so nervous. There's something about knowing if another girl like me can do it, then so can I. Is anyone else like that? Why is that? I would have been so much more excited and confident if I knew exactly what to expect and heard it from another woman.

Our ride came to an end when we reached Vivian park. There's a bridge that you do not want to go past. When you've reached the end, make sure you get off on the left because on your right is a private park, which is where we got off and got in trouble. Oops!

No permits are required to ride the river, but life jackets are. We rented ours from BYU Outdoors Unlimited. It was only $5 per life jacket. As for attire, I recommend wearing your swimsuit, flip flops, and sunscreen. Again, something only a girl would care about knowing which is why I'm mentioning it.

If you don't have access to inflatable kayaks you can rent some from High Country Rafting. They even offer guided river tours. For more info on riding down the river visit our website.

The Provo river is perfect for beginner kayakers, such as myself. The ride only took us about 75 minutes. You don't need any experience to make this a fun trip. Kayaking was way more fun than I ever thought it would be and for all you ladies reading this, if I could do it, anyone could do it.

Once again I have to give Colby credit for coming up with another super fun date. He never lets me down! We want to hear your ideas...what should we do next?

"A bow, Fergus? She's a Lady!"

Recently at the CVB, we’ve been thinking about ways to revamp our blog and have been listening to your requests and ideas on what you would like to see on here. With that said, we have decided to add a dating segment to our blog! We would never want to give you ideas that aren’t good, so I have volunteered me and my boyfriend to try them out.

Every week we will go on a themed date of sorts; some ideas that we come up with and others that are submitted to us. All of which will take place somewhere in Utah Valley. Before committing to this assignment, we were talking about how much there is to do in Utah Valley and how sometimes couples get stuck trying to figure out something fun and new to do. We have made it our mission to create original and fun date nights that couples of all ages will enjoy.
I think it’s best to start this dating segment with a little introduction. I have been dating my boyfriend, Colby, for four months now. Engaged? No. Thanks for asking. We both graduated from BYU and are working full-time here in Utah Valley. Colby graduated in Marketing and I graduated in Advertising. Yes they go hand-in-hand, but I like to say Advertising is way more fun! Some of our favorite things to do include cooking for each other, wearing matching outfits (never on purpose), going on adventures, and playing glow-in-the-dark bocce ball (it exists…buy a set online. You won’t regret it).

I have to admit, it’s a little daunting exposing our dating life to the world, but the challenge is something we can’t wait to take on and I’m so happy Colby is on board! The boyfriend is already super creative with our dates and with this assignment at hand, I cannot wait to see what he comes up with.
So you’re probably wondering at this point what is going on with the title of this post. It is actually a quote from the movie, Brave, which segments into our first Utah Valley date night. Using Brave as our inspiration we had Scottish night. Now not everything about this night was ‘technically’ Scottish so please don’t fault us.

Our first part of the date was archery. We had no idea you could take archery lessons. I was a little hesitant at first thinking I would make a fool of myself, but I ended up having a blast and turns out we weren’t that bad. We traveled to Jake’s Archery in Orem for our indoor shooting adventure. Jake’s was great because you could rent equipment if you don’t have your own, which for most of you I’m guessing you don’t, and they give you lessons. It only cost $10/person for an hour of shooting and for rental equipment. Not a bad deal! Side note, make sure you wear closed toe shoes. You never know where those arrows might end up…

Part two of our date was making crepes. Okay, Colby made crepes because I’m crepe incompetent. This is where the Scottish theme gets a little iffy, but we made them green if that counts for anything. With all of our favorite toppings piled on to our crepe, we sat down and watched Brave. Earlier we stopped by Redbox to pick it up and in case you didn’t know, there is a whole list of free codes you can use at Redbox to make date night just a little bit cheaper. I’m all about saving where you can!
